About the Pastors

Pastor Kristie and Pastor Mark both attended and graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 1997 with Masters of Divinity degrees. After two years pastoring separate congregations, they discovered that they were better together so they accepted their first co-pastoring calls to St. Paul’s Lutheran in Kenosha, Wisconsin where they stayed for nine years. Then in the spring of 2009, they accepted the call to serve as co-pastors of Norway.

Blessed with a rich heritage and long history at Norway, co-pastors Kristie and Mark are excited to bring their special talents to the wide range of ministries here. Pastor Kristie’s gifts include organizing people and systems as well as one-on-one care calls, so she works more on the administration and education (including adult education and confirmation programs) as well as handling more routine pastoral calls. Pastor Mark brings a strong talent for youth and out-reach programs, so he is revitalizing the youth ministry program, directing the evangelism committee’s efforts and leading the regular weekly gatherings of the men’s group at local restaurants where fun and faith really come together (another gift of his).

Both Pastor Kristie and Pastor Mark bring a focus to ministry at Norway that fosters lay leaders’ creativity and investment in making new ideas happen and bringing everyone back to the central questions of the church today: What is God calling us to do and be for the good of the world today? In addition to their specialized skills, it’s clear to everyone who sees them interact and lead together in worship and meetings that they are a real, married couple and family with their two young boys (Michael and Kyle) and they love being a part of the Norway family too!
